Hot Weather Notice for GP Practices

Published: 18th July 2022

Viapath has been alerted to the possibility that the extreme temperatures we are experiencing may be affecting the stability of some blood test results. Please note that blood samples must be kept within the temperature range of 15-25oC as higher temperatures may cause falsely abnormal results. e.g. hypokalaemia.

Viapath is working with our courier, CitySprint, to protect samples as far as possible once they have been collected. GP colleagues are asked to take all necessary steps to keep samples awaiting collection within the stable range of 15-25oC.

Please do get in touch with Pathology Support Services on 020 4513 7300 or by emailing [email protected] if you have any queries or concerns at any time
