Statement: Joint Decision Taken to Defer the Bexley, Greenwich and Lewisham (BGL) Transfer

Published: 22nd October 2021

There are many healthcare organisations involved in the transfer of pathology services for primary and community services in Bexley, Greenwich and Lewisham (BGL) to Viapath. The needs of patients and the clinicians who serve them is consistently at the heart of our collective decision-making, which is why all parties have decided to undertake further review and testing to ensure full assurance before proceeding. The transfer will therefore be deferred whilst this important work takes place, and we will provide an update on revised timeframes as soon as possible.

We appreciate that there has been a tremendous effort to get us to this point, and we are very appreciative of the work undertaken by colleagues across the health and care system. Thank you for your patience whilst we undertake the final checks needed to ensure we achieve a smooth and seamless transfer.

If you have any queries, please email [email protected]

Kind Regards,
Mark Dollar, Chief Executive, Viapath
Neil-Kennett Brown, Lead Director, NHS South East London CCG
Gail Beer, Director, GSTT
Mark Latham, Director, Pathology, KCH
